Improvements
As part of a fourth year project I improved my cinema website. The colour scheme was slightly confusing so I used dark yellow, black and white only which made the site more consistent. The main page is now six films with times. An adult user can now book a time, is forced into buying food and receives an itemised bill at the end of the process. I made the header and footer into separate PHP files to reduce the amount of changes required and added a game to the kids section.
Overview
This was a second year project at Edinburgh College. We were to build a cinema website from scratch. This is a modal pop up I designed with information about the film. Each film had one of these and there twenty films in the database.
Key features
This website had PHP, a database, a login system and an admin panel. The administrators could add films and staff to the system. Sections are locked off if the user is too young, someone can buy a ticket for a film.
Learnings
This was the first complicated website I made. I sat for two hours and coded non-stop to get the backend working properly. It was a fantastic moment when I showed myself I could code something from scratch, find errors and then make it work.
Challenges
The admin panel took a lot of thought, I was very pleased with it but I had never seen one before. I made it simple and easy to use with clear sections.
